HATTIESBURG, Miss. - With just four days remaining before the kickoff of the 2011 campaign, the Southern Miss Golden Eagles continued their gameplan installation in preparation for their Sept. 3 opener against Louisiana Tech.
The tempo of Tuesday's practice at the Joe P. Park Practice Facility was upbeat and fast, quick enough to conclude practice ahead of schedule.
"Our guys moved through practice really quickly today," said coach Larry Fedora. "Right now, the gameplan is completely in so we're just polishing up things. This was like a Wednesday practice for us. We got a lot of work in."
Fedora was also asked by members of the media if he noticed any nervous energy around the team or in the huddle.
"It hasn't been tense; no one has been uptight," said the fourth year coach. "But, there has been a sense of urgency. They all know what's coming and they are all excited about it. I think most of the team wishes (the season opener) was here now."
The Golden Eagles will return to the practice field tomorrow afternoon as they continue to prepare to open the 2011 season against the Bulldogs of Louisiana Tech at 9 p.m., Sept. 3, inside M.M. Roberts Stadium.
Single-game and season tickets are still available for 2011 Golden Eagle football by going online at SouthernMiss.com, calling the USM Athletic Ticket Office at 800-844-TICK (8425) or visiting the Pat Ferlise Center Monday through Friday from 8 a.m., until 5 p.m.
