HATTIESBURG, Miss. - Just eight days prior to the season opener against Louisiana Tech and Southern Miss football Larry Fedora said his team is ready to start the season.
"We are one week away now," said Fedora to reporters following the Golden Eagles' Friday afternoon practice. "I can tell that they are tired of hitting each other, practicing against each other and we have had some tempers flaring. It is time play someone else."
The Golden Eagles went through a two-hour practice Friday at the Joe P. Park Practice Facility and continued to put in the game plan for the Bulldogs in shoulder pads and shorts.
Southern Miss returns to the practice field Saturday when they will hold their annual mock game, which will have the team going through all the things that they would do on game day, including Eagle Walk, pre-game warm-ups and situations during a game.
The season opener against the Bulldogs is set to take place next Saturday, Sept. 3, at 9 p.m., at Carlisle-Faulkner Field at Roberts Stadium.
Season tickets, as well as single-game seats, are available by going online at SouthernMiss.com, or by calling 1-800-844-TICK (8425) or by visiting the Pat Ferlise Center Monday through Friday from 8 a.m., until 5 p.m.
