HATTIESBURG, Miss. - With classes at the University beginning on Wednesday, the Southern Miss Golden Eagles worked through their final day of practices on Tuesday morning at the Joe P. Park Practice Facility. The final session, scheduled to be a two practice day, was cut in half as coach Larry Fedora decided to reward his players for their commitment to the preseason camp on and off the field.
"We're going to take them to the movies instead," said Fedora of his afternoon plans. "These guys have worked extremely hard and have done everything we've asked them to do. It's the end of camp and with classes starting tomorrow, (the coaching staff) wanted to reward them. They've done a heck of a job. I'm proud of them."
Fedora was also pleased with the enthusiasm his team showed in their final practice of the 2011 preseason.
"We really got after it today," noted Fedora. "They came out there with an attitude and really played hard. The energy level was where it needed to be, and it was, by far, the best day."
The Golden Eagles are still expected to go through their position and team meetings for the rest of the day before heading to the movie. No word was given on what film the team is going to see.
