Men's Hoops Adds Junior College Standout Dwayne Davis

HATTIESBURG, Miss. - Southern Miss head men's basketball coach Larry Eustachy has announced the signing of Dwayne Davis (Philadelphia, Pa.) to a letter-of-intent and grant-in-aid for the 2011-12 academic year.
Davis, a 6-5 power forward, led Midland College to a 33-4 record and a runner-up finish at the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) National Tournament. He averaged 13.5 points, 4.3 rebounds and 2.5 assists while being named NJCAA All-Region V First Team, as well as First Team WJCAC All-Conference.
In 2009-10, while at Redlands Community College, Davis was NJCAA First Team All-Region II. While a senior in high school, Davis led Strawberry Mansion to a 23-6 record and a runner-up finish at the Pennsylvania Class 2A Championship. He was named Associated Press Pennsylvania First Team All-State and Philadelphia Daily News First Team All-City after averaging 22.1 points. He was earned Third Team Class 2A All-State in 2006-07.
Davis joins fall signees Bryant Crowder (Harlem, N.Y.), Keith DeWitt (High Point, N.C.), and Christian Robbins (Foxworth, Miss.) in the Golden Eagles 2011-12 signing class.
