HATTIESBURG, Miss. - For Saturday's contest against Conference USA rival UCF, the Southern Miss Athletic Department has announced numerous promotions and themes.
The matchup between East division rivals will be the "Military Appreciation Game," allowing members of the Armed Forces (active, reserved or retired) to purchase tickets for just $5. This offer can be obtained by showing a valid military ID at the Athletics Ticket Office inside the Pat Ferlisle Center or on game day.
Fans are also being asked to wear section specific colors for the game to show their Golden Eagle pride. Fans on the east side of the stadium (nearest to Hwy. 49) are asked to wear black while fans on the west side are asked to wear gold. For fans in the south endzone section, white is the appropriate color.
Former Golden Eagle defensive great Adalius Thomas will also be inducted into the Southern Miss Legends Club prior to the game. He will be the sixth addition to the club this season.
At halftime, The Ranger Parachute Group, led by former Southern Miss football player Mark Jones, will highlight the festivities of "Military Appreciation Day" by performing a parachute jump into Roberts Stadium.
All of these events are planned in conjunction with pre-game events like the Eagle Walk and Junior Eagle Funland. Eagle Walk takes place two hours prior to kickoff at 5 p.m. while the Funland, located on Pride Field, will open at 4 p.m. and close at 6:30 p.m.
Kickoff is set for 7 p.m. as the No. 22 Golden Eagles (8-1, 4-1 C-USA) take on reigning C-USA East Division champion UCF (4-5, 2-2 C-USA).
