HATTIESBURG, Miss. - After a 31-13 victory over Conference USA foe UTEP on Saturday, the No. 24 Southern Miss Golden Eagles got back to work on Tuesday to prepare for Saturday's game at East Carolina.
The Golden Eagles (7-1, 3-1 C-USA) appeared in the BCS Top 25 this week at No. 25 and moved up one spot in the USA Today/ESPN Coaches Poll to No. 24.
For coach Larry Fedora and his Eagles, it was just another normal Tuesday.
"It was a really good day," said Fedora. "We're running out of Tuesdays. That's the thing but it was a good work day today. They got after it with good energy, just the same way they do every Tuesday."
Fedora was also pleased at the way his players are taking care of themselves away from the field to make sure they can bring a high energy level on Saturday.
"I think (we're relatively fresh at this point in the season). We've done a nice job," added Fedora. "When we're out there, we aren't out there too long and we're practicing hard. The guys can still get off their feet and take care of themselves."
Saturday's game, scheduled for a 3 p.m. CT kickoff, will pit C-USA East's leaders with matching 3-1 records. This week's game can be viewed on CSS (Comcast channel 25 in Hattiesburg). The game also will be carried on one of the affiliates of the Southern Miss IMG Sports Network with the "Voice of the Golden Eagles" John Cox and analyst Vic Purvis describing all the action.
