Golden Eagles Returns Home for C-USA Tilt with SMU
- The Golden Eagles look to go 4-0 at home this season when they entertain SMU. Southern Miss has won its last four games at home dating back to last season.
- Since the renovation of The Rock for the 1976 season, the Golden Eagles have posted a 127-44 (.743) record at home over that span.
- Southern Miss is 78-33 overall and 40-15 at home in C-USA games.
- The Golden Eagles are 16-5 at home under Larry Fedora which includes a 11- game home win streak from 2008-10.
- Southern Miss looks to continue its solid offensive attack this week that has seen them score in each of the last 17 quarters and enabled them to average 48.3 points per game over the last four contests.
- The team brings in a current four-game winning streak to the game and their 5-1 start is the best for the program since the 2004 campaign.
The SMU Series
- Southern Miss leads in the series with SMU, 2-0, which dates back to the 2007 campaign. (Please see page 5 for breakdown of the series)
- Southern Miss scored 21 second-quarter points on Oct. 13, 2007, to take the inaugural meeting, 28-21, at Carlisle-Faulkner Field at Roberts Stadium for that year's homecoming.
- The Golden Eagles then went to Dallas the following year and scored two thirdquarter touchdowns to pull away with a 28-12 victory in the regular-season fi nale at Gerald J. Ford Stadium in Dallas on Nov. 29.
Homecoming Notes
- Southern Miss is 55-19 all-time in homecoming contests. They had a nine-game homecoming win streak snapped last season when they dropped a 44-43 decision to East Carolina.
- The Golden Eagles have won the only other meeting with SMU at home for its 2007 homecoming contest.
- Southern Miss has scored at least 28 points in 13 of the last 14 homecoming games, and at least 40 points nine times during that stretch.
- This year's homecoming queen is Kaitlin Dement from Mobile, Ala., and this year's theme is "Give me that Black and Gold."
