Eagles Get Back to the Road
After winning the previous two games at home, the Golden Eagles set out on the road this week to face Louisiana Tech in its fi nal non-conference action of the 2010 regular season.
Larry Fedora is 7-6 in non-conference games in his three-year tenure.
Fedora is 0-1 against the WAC, losing at home to No. 15 Boise State, 24-7, during the 2008 campaign.
The Golden Eagles are looking to win their first non-conference, regularseason road game since defeating Arkansas State, 27-24, on Sept. 13, 2008.
Against Louisiana Tech and the WAC
This will be the 43rd meeting between Southern Miss and Louisiana Tech in football with the Golden Eagles holding a 29-13 advantage in the series.
The two teams have not met since the Golden Eagles took a 16-13 victory over the Bulldogs on Sept. 19, 1992, in Hattiesburg.
The Golden Eagles hold a 13-7 record in games played in Ruston.
Southern Miss has won fi ve of the last six meeings.
The school is 36-18 all-time against the Western Athletic Conference. After a 29-13 record against Louisiana Tech, the Golden Eagles are 4-1 versus Utah State, 2-0 against Nevada, 1-0 versus Hawai'i, 0-2 against Boise State and 0-2 versus Idaho.
This will be the fi rst meeting with a school from the WAC, since losing a 24-7 decision at home against Boise State on Oct. 11, 2008.
A Win Against Louisiana Tech would ...
give the Golden Eagles their best non-conference record of 3-1 in Fedora's three-year tenure. The team has gone 2-2 in each of his first two seasons.
the team's best September finish with a 3-1 mark under Fedora.
give them their fi rst winning non-conference regular season record since 2000, when they defeated Alabama, Oklahoma State and USF.
run the team's consecutive win streak against teams from the state of Louisiana to 10.
The Kansas Win Extends Home Streak
The Golden Eagles now have won 10 straight home games after its win over Kansas. It is the longest home winning streak since 1984-87 of 11 games.
