HATTIESBURG, Miss. - A heavy thunderstorm cut short practice for the Southern Miss football team here early Sunday evening at the Joe P. Park Practice Facility.
About an hour into the practice, it began to rain on the squad and that downpour became heavy with intermittent thunder and lightning.
Fedora said after practice that the squad cut out a few periods but were able to get in most of the things they wanted to during the hour and a half workout.
"It got pretty heavy, lightning got close and we weren't able to finish," Fedora said. "We got the majority of the practice done but probably cut it by about 15 minutes."
Fedora also said that after breaking down the team's performance in their second scrimmage of the summer, the team has gotten better than the first one some six days earlier.
"We have broken it down completely and got a look at everybody," Fedora said. "We made a lot of improvement from the first to the second scrimmage. I am hoping by the time the mock game gets here on Thursday we will have made that same kind of improvement."
Fedora added that they had begun putting the game plan in first its season-opening opponent, South Carolina, on Sept. 2.
