Southern Miss Coach Larry Fedora's Postgame Quotes from Spring Game
On his general thoughts of the game:
"(I saw) some good things. I don't know how many turnovers we had or anything like that, but I think the guys were playing hard and had fun flying around tonight to finish up spring practice. We had a great crowd, awesome atmosphere. We have a long way to go before September 2nd but we'll get there."
On any surprises after watching the game:
"That's hard to say for me without looking at it on film. When you're standing back there behind the players, I don't see all the good things to be honest with you."
On his thoughts of the performance of redshirt freshman runningback Kendrick Hardy:
"He's been doing that all spring. He runs hard. He adds another dimension to what we do offensively because of his size, his speed, and how hard he runs."
On the tempo of both the defense and the offense:
"The offense had a great tempo going. They were moving the ball very quickly which is what we want to do. When they were doing that, the defense had a hard time stopping them."
On V.J. Floyd being a likely starter at running back:
"We'll see. We'll have to evaluate it. I can tell you this, all four of those guys have been working their butts off and have shown a lot of promise through spring in flashes. Even Desmond (Johnson) and (Tracy Lampley) have done some really good things. I think right now, we have four that we can count on. That's a great thing for us to get through the season."
On the schemes of the defense:
"They were very vanilla. We didn't let them do anything, hardly, defensively. I mean, we told them to just line up and play with very basic blitzes. We put the defense with their back against the wall with how we limit what they can do. We just wanted them to line up and play and I think they played hard tonight."
