HATTIESBURG, Miss. - Southern Miss junior Danny Hrapmann was named one of three finalists for the 19th Lou Groza Collegiate Place-Kicker Award, recognizing the nation's top collegiate place kicker, by a national panel of college football experts assembled by the Palm Beach County Sports Commission. Hrapmann is joined by Dan Bailey of Oklahoma State and David Ruffer of Notre Dame as the other two finalists.
With his field goal and eight extra points in last Saturday's 59-41 defeat of Houston, Hrapmann set a Golden Eagle single-season kick scoring record with 115 points. The New Orleans, La., native is tied for the school's season lead in field goals made, converting 23 of his 26 tries this season. Hrapmann has exhibited a strong leg all season, going 2-of-3 on attempts from 50 yards, with his only miss a blocked attempt from 59 yards out. He is perfect on all 46 PATs this season, helping him to second place in the nation in scoring.
Earlier this season, he kicked a career long field goal of 54 yards against UAB and established a school game record with five made field goals.
