Team Notes
*Today's captains were linebacker Martez Smith, defensive lineman John Henderson, wide receiver Johdrick Morris and defensive lineman Anthony Gray.
*Today's attendance was 32,334.
*Southern Miss falls to 26-10 all-time against East Carolina and 11-7 in games played in Hattiesburg.
*Head Coach Larry Fedora is now 10-8 all-time in conference games 7-3 in conference home games.
*With the loss, USM had its 11-game home winning streak snapped.
*The Golden Eagles had its nine-game homecoming win streak snapped. They are now 55-19 all-time in homecoming games.
*They are also 2-2 against East Carolina in homecoming games.
Offensive Notes
*Senior center Cameron Zipp started his 32nd consecutive game and 35th overall.
*Southern Miss' 20 first quarter points are the second most under Fedora. They scored 28 against UAB in 2008.
*Junior quarterback Austin Davis threw for 237 yards and one touchdown on 20-of-39 passing. He now has 14 career 200-yard passing games.
*Davis connected on a five-yard touchdown pass in the first quarter to Johdrick Morris. It was Morris' first touchdown of the year and third of his career.
*Davis also had an eight-yard touchdown run in the third quarter. He now has five rushing touchdowns on the year and 16 for his career.
*Davis' 16 rushing touchdowns ties Don Fuell (1959-61) for second most by a quarterback in a career.
*Morris caught five passes for a career-high 81 yards.
*Running back V.J. Floyd's three-yard touchdown run in the first quarter was his second of the season and fourth of his career.
*Offensive lineman Darius Barnes caught his first career pass in the second quarter.
*Eighteen different receivers have now caught a pass this year.
Defensive Notes
*Southern Miss held East Carolina to 33 yards rushing. The loss was its first under Fedora when holding teams under 100 yards rushing.
*Southern Miss held ECU scoreless in the first quarter. It is the fourth time in five games they have held the opposition without a point, and the fifth straight game they have been held to three points or less.
*The 21 third quarter points are the most points given up in a quarter this year.
*Defensive back C.J. Bailey recovered his first fumble of the season and second of his career.
*Defensive back Chico Hunter intercepted his first pass of the year in the first quarter. It was his second career interception.
*Defensive back Justin Wilson intercepted his third pass of the year in the third quarter. It was his 11th career interception.
*Linebacker Jamie Collins returned an interception 22-yards for a touchdown in the fourth quarter. It is the first interception returned for a touchdown since Brandon Sumrall returned one 82 yards against Memphis in 2007.
*It is also his first career interception.
* Collins and defensive lineman Anthony Gray combined on a sack in the second quarter. Collins has 2 ½ career sacks.
*Gray also combined on a sack with defensive lineman Cordarro Law. Gray now has 9 ½ career sacks and Law has 14 ½.
*Defensive lineman Roshaad Byrd recorded his second sack of the season and 2 ½ of his career.
*Under Fedora, Southern Miss has now forced at least one turnover in 29 of 32 games and has had two or more in 21 contests.
Special Teams Notes
*Danny Hrapmann connected on field goals of 49, 38, 49, 39 and 28 yards. He has now connected on 16 straight field goals dating back to last year's New Orleans Bowl. It is the longest streak since 1995.
*The five field goals also set a new school record. The previous record of four was held by four kickers.
*Southern Miss allowed a 97-yard kickoff return for a touchdown to Jon Williams in the third quarter. It is the second straight week it has allowed a kickoff return for a touchdown.
