HATTIESBURG, Miss. - The Southern Miss football team continued preparations for its Conference USA East Division tilt with UAB this weekend with a two-hour practice here Wednesday afternoon at Carlisle-Faulkner Field at Roberts Stadium.
Third-year coach Larry Fedora said the team's practice was better today than yesterday as they look to rebound against the Blazers, who defeated Southern Miss, 30-17, in Birmingham last season.
"It was a better day than it was yesterday, the game plan is in and we will come back out and polish it up tomorrow," said Fedora. "Physically and mentally they are where they need to be."
Fedora also said following practice that he doubted if either junior wide receiver DeAndre Brown or senior defensive back C.J. Bailey would be available for the game against UAB due to their respective injuries.
Game time is set for 11 a.m., at The Rock and tickets are still available for the school's scheduled annual Black Out contest. It will also be "Take a Kid to a Game" day and Golden Eagle fans are asked to look for gold coupons around town which offers a free kid admission with the purchase of an adult ticket.
The Black Daggers will parachute in during the pregame festivities and the 2010 Conference USA baseball champion Golden Eagles will be recognized, as will the 1970 Southern Miss football team on the field during the game.
Fans can purchase tickets by going online at SouthernMiss.com, by calling 1-800-844-TICK (8425) or by visiting the Pat Ferlise Ticket Office from 8 a.m. until 5 p.m. up until Friday.
