Southern Miss Notes versus Kansas Kivisto Field at Memorial Stadium (Attendance - 50,025) Sept. 26, 2009
* The Golden Eagle captains for the game were Nos. 11 Tory Harrison, 29 Terrance Conner, 38 Jeremy Snowden and 73 Kyle Burkhart.
* Southern Miss radio color analyst Vic Purvis worked his 400th career game in that capacity today. Purvis is a former Golden Eagle quarterback (1963-65) and went on to play two seasons in the NFL for the New England Patriots (1966-67).
* It was the ninth straight loss to a ranked opponent for Southern Miss. The last win against a ranked foe came on Nov. 20, 2003, in a 40-28 win over No. 9 TCU.
* The loss snapped a eight-game winning streak for the Golden Eagles, who had the second longest current win streak in the FBS as well as its fifth-best tying win streak in its school's history.
* The Golden Eagles game against Kansas was the first trip to a Big 12 school since defeating Nebraska 21-17 on Sept. 11, 2004.
* Damion Fletcher recorded a career-high 49-yard reception on the opening drive for the Golden Eagles which helped set up their first touchdown.
* DeAndre Brown recorded his first touchdown reception of the season at 12:01 in the second quarter. It was the longest TD pass for Austin Davis who has now thrown a scoring strike in 11-straight games and 16 of 17 starts.
* The second touchdown for the Golden Eagles was the second longest drive in terms of yardage (91) for the season.
* Davis' 27 completions tied for third most for Southern Miss in a game. He now holds the top four sports for the Golden Eagles.
* Junior Hendrick Leverette made his first career start.
* Southern Miss gave up over 100 yards rushing for the first time in the last nine games as Kansas collected 102 yards on the ground.
* Austin Davis tallied his 11th career rushing touchdown with his 16-yard rush score at the 6:15 mark of the third quarter.
* Davis' interception in the fourth quarter snapped a streak of 160 consecutive passes without a pick.
* Freshman Tracey Lampley returned his career-long punt of 50 yards in the first half and also returned a kickoff for 25 yards in the contest.
* Senior Eddie Hicks recorded his 10th career interception in the third quarter.
* Jonathan Massey registered his first multi-touchdown game of his Southern Miss career with a 1-yard reception in the first quarter and a 4-yard catch in the third.
