HATTIESBURG, Miss. - After winning its Conference USA opener last weekend over UCF, Southern Miss returned to the practice field here Tuesday to being preparations for non-conference foe, Virginia.
Game time is set for 2:30 p.m., here Saturday at Carlisle-Faulkner Field at Roberts Stadium and will be televised by CBS College Sports (Channel 735 on Comcast Digital Cable in Hattiesburg) as well as broadcast on the Southern Miss ISP Sports Network.
Second-year coach Larry Fedora was pleased with his team's 2 ½ hour practice as they prepare for a Cavalier squad that the Golden Eagle coach said was "very physical and get after it."
Virginia is the first Atlantic Coast Conference school to come to Hattiesburg since 2006 when North Carolina State came to The Rock. The Golden Eagles defeated the Wolfpack 37-17 in the contest.
Fedora said the Golden Eagles came away fairly unscathed injury-wise from its 26-19 win over the Knights last weekend as the program won its seventh-straight game to match their longest winning streak since 1996.
"Right now they are telling me everyone is healthy and should be good to go for Saturday," Fedora said.
Tickets still remain for the Virginia game as well as the Flex Plan option. Seats can be purchased by calling 1-800-844-TICK (8425), or going online at SouthernMiss.com as well as visiting the Pat Ferlise Ticket Office, Monday-through-Friday from 8 a.m. until 5 p.m.
The Southern Miss Ticket Office, along with the Eagle Club Office, will be open from 8 a.m. until 11 a.m., Saturday, at the Pat Ferlise Center and then move to the stadium ticket office on the northwest and southwest sides beginning at 11:30 a.m.
