HATTIESBURG, Miss. - After nearly three weeks of beating up on one another game week has finally arrived for the Golden Eagles so the Southern Miss football team took their final scrimmage of the season and made it a game day experience for the players and coaches.
Southern Miss ran over 100 plays in the mock game, which was more of a dress rehearsal for the season opener one week from today against Alcorn State.
The players dressed in full game uniforms for the nearly two-hour practice inside M.M. Roberts Stadium at Carlisle-Faulkner Field working anything they may be faced with next Saturday.
"We went through every situation and scenario that we could possible come up with today," head coach Larry Fedora said.
Southern Miss started the day going through the tradition of Eagle Walk and continued with the exact pregame warm-up and stretching routine they will use next Saturday in the season opener.
Once the mock game started Southern Miss worked every aspect of the game, even the rarely used phases such as kicking after a safety, onside kicks and the victory formation.
The Golden Eagles also spent a great deal of time working on substitutions that occur throughout the game and getting the right personal on and off the field in different situations.
"We are defiantly in game mode now, from this point out we are totally focused and locked in on what we have to do to win next Saturday," Fedora added.
Season, Flex Plan and single-game tickets are all available through the Southern Miss Athletic Ticket Office.
