Former Southern Miss quarterback Stephen Reaves will make his first career start in the Canadian Football League for the Toronto Argonauts Saturday, Nov. 7.
Reaves, who took over the starting quarterback position for the Golden Eagles during his senior season, came off the bench last week for significant playing time with his CFL team and will look to start his campaign to keep the position heading into next season.
In his relief, Reaves completed 10 of 16 passes against Edmonton for 122 yards and one touchdown. He also threw two interceptions.
The Argonauts (3-14) will finish out of the playoffs for the second year in a row and are looking to make offensive changes.
In an interview with the Toronto Sun, Argos Head Coach Argos head Bart Andrus said, "We thought he showed some things the other night (in relief of Kerry Joseph against the Eskimos in Edmonton). He's young, he's a rookie, he made some mistakes, but he had some promise. It's a different kind of pressure to start a game rather than coming off the bench."
Reaves finished his Southern Miss career having completed 132 of 223 passes for 1431 yards. He threw 5 touchdown passes and 9 interceptions and added one rushing touchdown.
