HATTIESBURG, Miss. - A rainy Tuesday afternoon could not keep the Southern Miss football team off the practice field as they held their eighth workout session of the spring.
The Golden Eagles went through a 2 ½ hour practice in shoulder pads and shorts at Carlisle-Faulkner Field at Roberts Stadium, continuing to install both its offensive and defensive systems.
Rain fell for most of the practice on the team's game field, but that was not a factor in first-year coach Larry Fedora's assessment of the afternoon as he would have liked to have seen more effort out of his players during the practice.
"We have gotten a little better each practice," Fedora said. "Today, though, we did not practice as well as we've had. We need guys to step up and decide that we are going to (get better)."
The Golden Eagles continue to work toward its spring game set for April 12, at 6 p.m. For tickets call 1-800-844-TICK (8425) or go by the Southern Miss Athletic Ticket Office on West 4th Street, Monday-Friday from 8 a.m. until 5 p.m. Fans can also purchase their tickets online 24-hours-a-day at SouthernMiss.com. Prices are $10 for adults and $5 for youth.
Southern Miss returns to the practice field Thursday afternoon.
