Softball Hosts Northwestern State in Wednesday Twinbill

HATTIESBURG, Miss. - Southern Miss looks to continue its winning ways at home here Wednesday when they entertain Northwestern State in a non-conference softball doubleheader at 4 p.m., at the USM Softball Complex.
The Lady Eagles (14-18) have won six of nine at home this season and look to snap a current four-game losing streak.
Third baseman Jennifer Fox continues to lead the Lady Eagles with a .367 batting average to go along with a team-best three home runs. The senior from Jackson, Miss., has 17 runs batted in.
Sophomore Megan Hill (Hattiesburg, Miss.) is next for the Lady Eagles with a .290 batting average to go along with a pair of homers and a team-high 18 RBIs.
Junior catcher Kristin Pilgrim (Metairie, La.) has tallied a .250 batting average with two homers and 15 RBIs, while senior shortstop Kristin Chaney (Little Rock, Miss.) holds a .247 batting average with five RBIs.
As for pitching, Samantha Davis leads the five-person staff with a 6-7 record and a 2.98 earned run average. The Rancho Cucamonga, Calif., native has registered a team-best 46 strikeouts in 87 innings.
The Demons (5-25) enter the games having lost six-straight contests and 14 of their last 15.
Mallori Thornton leads the NSU offense with a .348 batting average with two RBIs, while Randi Stuard is next at .302 with two homers and seven RBIs.
Following the NSU doubleheader, the Lady Eagles remain home this weekend when they entertain UAB in a three-game Conference USA series. The two teams will play a 1 p.m., twinbill, Saturday, and complete the series with a 1 p.m., single game on Sunday.
