Southern Miss Hosts In-state Rival Ole Miss

HATTIESBURG, Miss. - The Southern Miss softball team concludes a six-game homestand with in-state rival Ole Miss in a single game Wednesday at 5:30 p.m., at the Southern Miss Softball Complex.
Southern Miss is coming off a 4-3 win over Conference USA foe Tulsa, Sunday. The Lady Eagles have won three of their last five games.
Senior Jennifer Fox leads the team with a team-high .348 batting average, with two home runs and 14 RBI. Megan Hill is next with a .329 average with a team-high 16 RBI. Hill also has two home runs, two triples and four doubles on the season.
Junior Samantha Davis has worked 55.1 innings and has a team-low 2.02 ERA with 36 strikeouts. Freshman Lana Vaughn has a 2.06 ERA in 34.0 innings pitched.
Ole Miss, which played South Alabama in a single game Tuesday, is led by sophomore Alise Doubt who leads the team with a .346 batting average. Ashley Dowdy is next with an average of .345. Sophomore Lauren Grill leads the team with four home runs and 18 RBI. Freshman Lindsey Perry has a team-low 1.20 ERA and senior Tara Willitt leads the team with five wins.
Ole Miss leads the series 9-7 over the Lady Eagles.
Following the Ole Miss game, Southern Miss hits the road for a three-game C-USA series at East Carolina, Mar. 15-16.
