Softball Host Meet The Team Dinner

HATTIESBURG, Miss. - Over 100 staff, parents, players, local community supporters and boosters came out for the softball "Meet the Team" dinner, Feb. 1, hosted by first first-year head coach Howard Dobson and his staff on the campus in the Thad Cochran Center.
Parents, fans and boosters were able to meet and greet the team and have dinner, prior to the opening of the 2008 season.
On the night, Dobson had a recap of the fall season, including workouts, recruiting, winter camps and coaches' clinic. Before the night was over, Dobson also shared his thoughts on the season outlook for the upcoming season. Fans and boosters had a chance to win door prizes.
John Cox, the Voice of the Golden Eagles, was the emcee and special guests included athletics director Richard Giannini and his wife, Gail, Deputy Director Scott Carr, Senior Associate Director Diane Stark, and Executive secretary of athletic director Lynn McLelland.
During the evening, each class was introduced and had an opportunity for a question and answer session. Each player was required to answer at least one question.
The Lady Eagles open the 2008 season in the Early Bird Tournament hosted by Florida State, Feb. 8-10. Southern Miss plays Troy in the opening game.
