Softball Travels to Lafayette for 22nd Annual Louisiana Classics

HATTIESBURG, Miss. - Southern Miss takes to the road this weekend for its third regular-season tournament as they will meet Mississippi Valley State and Louisiana-Lafayette in the 22nd Louisiana Classics being held in Lafayette, La.
The schedule of the weekend has Southern Miss meeting MVSU (11 a.m.) and UL Lafayette (1:30 p.m.) on Saturday, while facing the Delta Devils (1 p.m.) and Ragin' Cajuns (3:30 p.m.) again on Sunday. The final game of the tournament for the Lady Eagles and Ragin' Cajuns will be televised live on KLAF-TV in the Lafayette, La., area.

The Lady Eagles (8-3) have won three straight, which includes a mid-week doubleheader sweep of Jackson State of 10-2 in both contests and a win in the championship game of the K-Club Invitational last weekend in Kennesaw, Ga.
Senior Jennifer Fox (Jackson, Miss.) leads the way for the Lady Eagles offensively, having tallied a .400 batting average with a home run and eight runs batted in over 11 games. Senior Allison Bullard (Columbus, Ga.) is next at .375 with four RBIs and sophomore Megan Hill (Hattiesburg, Miss.) has a .355 average with a pair of homers and a team-best 10 RBIs.
The Lady Eagle pitching staff has compiled a team earned run average of 2.42 as five different hurlers have seen action in the circle for Southern Miss.
Defensively, the Lady Eagles are fielding at .974 which ranks third in Conference USA.
MVSU enter play this weekend with a 6-4 mark, while UL Lafayette is 4-0.
