HATTIESBURG, Miss. - The lights were on Saturday night on the Southern Miss campus.
The Golden Eagles were not playing at "The Rock," but instead beginning preparations for Boise State in a Thursday night game on ESPN. The game is slated for a 6:30, central time start.
The team returned to the practice field after taking the previous two days off and went through an hour and a half practice in shoulder pads and shorts.
Southern Miss coach Jeff Bower said after practice that the team's workout consisted of putting in all Boise State material. The 17th-year coach also said that running portion of the game will be important to either team's success on Thursday.
"They are pretty good stats-wise against the run and it should be an interesting game as far as the running game," Bower said. "Both teams are pretty similar as far as what we want to do. They want to run the football and so do we."
The team will return to the Joe P. Park Practice Facility, Sunday, with an afternoon practice as the Golden Eagles make their first trip to Boise since the 1998 Humanitarian Bowl.
