McRath Receives C-USA Player of the Week Honors

HATTIESBURG, Miss. - Southern Miss linebacker Gerald McRath (Powder Springs, Ga.) was named Conference USA Defensive Player of the Week, following his performance against East Carolina last weekend.
The redshirt sophomore tallied a game-high 14 tackles, to go along with one sack and one tackle for loss in Southern Miss' 28-21 win. Nine of his tackles came in the second half.
McRath currently leads the team on the season with 40 stops. He now has tallied double-digit stops in all three games this season, in five straight contests and six of the last seven.
To round out this week's honorees, Tulsa senior quarterback Paul Smith was named Offensive Player of the Week, and UAB junior kicker Swayze Waters was given Special Teams recognition.
