HATTIESBURG, Miss. - Southern Miss went through its third two-a-day practice, Wednesday, utilizing a morning workout in full pads before concluding with an afternoon session in shoulder pads and shorts at the Joe P. Park Practice Facility.
The day was used to prepare for Saturday's morning's scrimmage at M.M. Roberts Stadium.
Golden Eagle coach Jeff Bower said he liked the way the offense showed improvement during the two workouts and said that sophomore running back Damion Fletcher (Biloxi, Miss.), who was back at full strength after missing some practice time earlier in camp, looked good in his first day back.
"The offense picked it up and did a little better today," Bower said. "We caught the ball better, ran the ball better and did some good things up front."
Bower also stated that there have been some injuries recently during camp, including sophomore running back Tory Harrison (Leesburg, Fla.) who injured an ankle, but said that is just the normal process during this time in the preseason.
"We've got some typical injuries for this stage of preseason," Bower said. "We need to get some players back for Saturday morning, which I think we will."
The Golden Eagles return to action with a Thursday morning practice, before going through their fourth two-a-day workout of the fall on Friday.
