During the 2007 NFL Europa season, SouthernMiss.com will bring you exclusive insight into former Golden Eagle football player Jeremy Parquet's travels overseas as a member of the Hamburg Sea Devils of NFL Europa as he checks in weekly with former Southern Miss alumni, Joe Trahan, who will also be in Germany covering the team and Parquet.
This is Jeremy Parquet checking in. What's up world? I know it's been awhile since I last talked to you, but we've pretty much played three games in 14 days and it's been kind of hectic around here. We haven't had many days off and much time off to relax and recoup, but I'm back for a little while. Anyway, let's go.
We have a game Friday against Amsterdam. We just played them last Saturday here in Hamburg and won 24-17, and we play them again this week in Amsterdam. That's kind of what we've been talking about, with not having much time lately.
The experiences here have been getting much better. My wife came in town last week for about six or seven days and we hung out around town as I took here downtown to the little mall area, we worked out together and talked. I really enjoyed her being here.
The team went to the Beyonce concert the other day, as Beyonce was in Hamburg, Germany. Beyonce is hands down the best singer and performer out right now. We really enjoyed the concert and thanks to Coach Vince Martino and the public relations staff here with the Sea Devils, as we really appreciate that. The concert was in the arena across the street from where we play and it lasted four hours total (with the other acts) and then Beyonce went up there and did here thing. I truly enjoyed that.
My wife left yesterday morning to go back to the States, so I'm really going to miss her and I really miss my little boy too as I haven't seen him since April. He has two teeth in his mouth now and he's in school now in Gautier, Miss. Actually, today he's taking his first school pictures so it kind of hurts my feelings that I'm not down there for that.
It's all for the good though because we have five weeks left trying to make this push for the World Bowl. We have Amsterdam this Friday and if we beat them it should be on. The game comes on down there on Saturday on the NFL Network at 9 a.m. eastern, 8 a.m. central, so if you get a chance check me out, number 73, on Saturday.
I really appreciate you guys reading my blog every week. Like I said before, I'm sorry about the week and a half hiatus - I've been kind of busy - but I promise it's going to get better.
This is Jeremy Parquet signing off. Till next time.
-Jeremy
