During the 2007 NFL Europa season, SouthernMiss.com will bring you exclusive insight into former Golden Eagle football player Jeremy Parquet's travels overseas as a member of the Hamburg Sea Devils of NFL Europa as he checks in weekly with former Southern Miss alumni, Joe Trahan, who will also be in Germany covering the team and Parquet.
Weekly blog number four. This is Jeremy Parquet, Hamburg, Germany - signing in. The first game (Hamburg Sea Devils lost to the Cologne Centurions, 24-18, in Week 1 on Saturday, April 14) was real frustrating. We had a good week of practice. We went out there and practiced hard, did our thing and did what we had to do, but the game just didn't work out like it was supposed to. But hey, with life you win some and you lose some, so I'm not worried about it. The loss here hurt bad because I feel that we have the best team over here, and it's like what our running back Tony Hollings said after the game that now we all know what we've got to work on.
This week we play the Berlin Thunder in Berlin on Sunday (April 22 on NFL Network, check local listings), so we've got to work on our game, get better at it and come back hard next week and get this "W" on the road and keep going all the way to the World Bowl.
I have to say that I enjoyed myself playing over here. The fans were crazy before, after and during the game and the atmosphere was crazy. I played against (former Southern Miss defensive tackle) Tom (Johnson) last week against Cologne, and he and I had a few plays against each other, so that made my first experience here a good one.
We have nine more weeks here, so now we'll get to the road on our way to the World Bowl. I'll sign back in next week after the game against Berlin. Y'all be cool.
~Jeremy
