Softball Travels to Face South Alabama on Monday

HATTIEBURG, Miss. - The Southern Miss softball team travels to Mobile, Ala., to face first-year program South Alabama on Monday, March 26, in a single game beginning at 6 p.m.
This will be the second meeting between the two teams, with the Lady Eagles holding the 1-0 advantage. The first contest served as the home opener for Southern Miss, in which the Lady Eagles took a 1-0 victory.
Southern Miss enters the contest with a 10-23 overall record, while South Alabama holds a 19-11 record. The Lady Eagles are coming off of a 5-4 loss to No. 15 Louisiana-Lafayette on Thursday, March 22.
Offensively, the Lady Eagles are led by freshmen Megan Hill, Brandi Alonzo and Logan James. Hill is currently hitting .370 with eight doubles, four triples, seven home runs and 26 RBIs, while Alonzo is hitting .330, including four doubles, one triple, two home runs and 14 RBIs. Jones holds a .253 batting average with seven doubles, seven home runs and 17 RBIs.
On the mound, Southern Miss is led by sophomore pitcher Samantha Davis. Davis (1-6) has recorded a 2.57 ERA with 18 strikeouts and 18 walks.
On offense, South Alabama is headed by Tara Donaldson, Evelyne Pare and Ashley Elmore. Donaldson currently holds a .427 batting average with 11 doubles, four home runs and 29 RBIs. Pare is hitting .365, including two doubles, three triples and nine RBIs, while Elmore closely follows, hitting .364.
Defensively, the Jaguars are led by pitcher Linden Jones, who has recorded a 1.60 ERA with 131 strikeouts and 29 walks.
