Cross Country Hosts Annual Meet

HATTIESBURG, Miss. -- - The Southern Miss cross country team will host the 26th Annual Southern Miss Cross Country Invitational on Friday, Sept. 8 at Tatum Park, a change from the previous 25 events.
Because of damage to the course from Hurricane Katrina, the cross country meet location has changed.
Thirty-four high school teams will compete in the event. The girls' two-mile run begins at 3:30 p.m., followed by the boys' 5K approximately 4 p.m.
Eight colleges and universities will compete in the event. Schools competing are Alcorn State, Jackson State, Mississippi Valley State men, Nicholls State, Southeastern Louisiana, Tougaloo College, Tulane women and Southern Miss women.
The women's race will cover a 5K course, beginning approximately 4:30 p.m., while the men's race will cover four miles and begin at 5 p.m.
An open 5K race will begin approximately 5:30 p.m.
Results of the meet will be available at the www.SouthernMiss.com by approximately 8 p.m.
