HATTIESBURG, Miss. - The Golden Eagle football team completed its preparations for Saturday's home opening game against Southeastern La., today, with a two-hour practice in M.M. Roberts Stadium.
Head Coach Jeff Bower said the team has mostly recovered, after about 18 players missed practice time this week with strep throat.
"We're getting better," Bower said. "I think we're over that stuff."
Saturday marks the 21st meeting between the two schools, and the first since the 1969 season. Southern Miss holds a 17-3 series advantage, winning the last 10 games in the series. The Golden Eagles own a 11-2 advantage over the Lions in Hattiesburg.
Kickoff is set for 6 p.m., in M.M. Roberts Stadium.
