Softball's Fox Named Conference USA Hitter Of The Week

HATTIESBURG, Miss. - Sophomore leftfielder Jennifer Fox earned Conference USA Hitter of the Week honors for the second time this season and in her career, today.
Fox becomes the third Lady Eagle to earn Hitter of the Week honors this season, as she earned the honor for the first time on Feb. 27, while Charity Butler was selected on April 3.
With Fox's selection, Southern Miss has now had 34 players selected as Conference USA Player of the Week, with 19 being Hitters of the Week. Fox is also the eighth multiple winner in school history, joining Ashley Davis (2005), Jessica Holaway (2004, 2003, 2002), Amanda Brown (2001), Kenya Peters (2001, 2000), Melissa Cundiff (2002, 2001), Felicia Gonzales (2002, 2001) and Courtney Blades (2000).
Fox went 4-for-9 (.444) for the week, with a home run, four RBIs and two runs scored in the Golden Eagles' series win over UAB. In game two against the Blazers, Fox went 3-for-4, with her team-best seventh home run to go along with three RBIs, giving her team-leading totals of 16 multi-hit games and seven multi-RBI games for the season. In the series-clinching 4-3 win, Fox delivered the game-winning RBI single and also scored a run and stole a base.
The Jackson, Miss., native leads Southern Miss with a .352 batting average, 51 hits, seven home runs, 35 RBIs, 81 total bases, .559 slugging percentage and .429 on-base percentage.
Southern Miss stands 24-27 overall, 10-5 in Conference USA. The Lady Eagles return to action on Wednesday, hosting Southeastern La., in their last non-conference game of the season. First pitch is set for 7 p.m.
