Southern Miss Quotes
Head Coach Larry Eustachy
On how the game ended: "I thought the game had a neat ending. I've wanted to get our team to overachieve all year, even though we've been playing out of position with our backs against the wall, but they did that tonight as they continued to scrap and fight the whole game. Overall, it was a positive team builder for next year."
On the performance of his two seniors, Jason Forte and Tyler Quinn: "Forte probably played the best game since I've been here, and the game wasn't over until Tyler hit a huge free throw at the end. What probably went unnoticed was the defensive plays that (Quinn) made on the other side of the ball."
Senior Jason Forte
On his last game at home: "The only that I wanted to do was come out and get a win. I didn't care if I scored a career high or no points at all; all I wanted was the win. Now I'm excited to go to the conference tournament and find out who we have to play."
On his final minutes of the game: "It felt good out there. There was a lot of emotion, and a lot of things were on my mind. The tears of joy have been shed, as I've been blessed by God to play Division I basketball and I want to thank the fans for their support."
On the win against ECU: "When the lead was cut to 10, we knew we had to step up and make some plays and we did, especially defensively. Overall, I'm happy for our younger guys that they can get a victory heading into the tournament."
ECU Quotes
Head Coach Ricky Stokes
On what gave Southern Miss the victory: "We let them go to the line 38 times, and I think that was the key to them winning the game. They took care of the ball well, and their rebounding killed us."
