Basketball Travels To Face League Rival Tulane

HATTIESBURG, Miss. - The Southern Miss Golden Eagles visit Conference USA rival Tulane in the final road game of the season, Wednesday, in New Orleans, La. Tip-off for the contest is set for 7 p.m., CST, at Tulane's Fogelman Arena.
The game will be broadcast over the Southern Miss ISP Sports Network, with the "Voice of the Golden Eagles" John Cox and legendary coach M.K. Turk calling the action. Air time begins at 6:30 p.m., CST, with the Golden Eagle Courtside Show.
Southern Miss, under the direction of second-year Head Coach Larry Eustachy, enters the game with an 8-19 overall record and a 2-10 mark in league play following Saturday's 62-57 loss to Marshall in Huntington, W. Va. The Green Wave, under the direction of first-year Head Coach Dave Dickerson, stands 10-15 on the year and 5-7 in league play. In the last game, Tulane won on the road at East Carolina, 66-53, on Saturday.
Freshman guard Courtney Beasley currently leads Southern Miss in scoring with 301 points on the season, an average of 11.1 per game. Senior forward Jason Forte follows with 8.5 per game, while junior guard Jarekus Singleton adds 8.4 points per game. Forte and David Cornwell lead the team in rebounding with averages of 4.6 and 4.3, respectively, while Kyle Lamonte continues to lead the team with 59 assists on the year.
Senior center Quincy Davis currently leads the Green Wave with 320 season points, an average of 12.8 per game. Sophomore forward David Gomez follows with 300 points on the season, averaging 12.0 per game, and junior guard Chris Moore has 218 points on the year, averaging 8.7 per game. Davis paces the team in rebounds with 144 on the year, an average of 5.8 per game, and sophomore forward Donnie Stith is second with 126 total rebounds. Junior guard Andrew Garcia leads the team in assists with 78 overall, followed by Ryan Williams' total of 74.
The game marks the 62nd all-time meeting between the two schools, with Tulane leading 36-25. Southern Miss has won four of the last five in the series, including the earlier season meeting 67-55, Jan. 11, in Hattiesburg.
Following the game, Southern Miss wraps up the regular season at home against East Carolina on March 4.
