HATTIESBURG, Miss. - The Southern Miss football team practiced for two hours, today, at M.M. Roberts Stadium, continuing preparations for its match-up with Virginia Tech on Saturday.
Head Coach Jeff Bower announced that freshman running back Damion Fletcher will not be playing in the game against Virginia Tech due to a knee injury.
"He's having arthroscopic surgery tomorrow morning to repair some cartilage damage," added Bower. "He had an MRI yesterday. We're going to get it done now, and I think we'll be able to get him back for East Carolina. It's a minor deal, but we've got to get him well."
Senior running back Conrad Chanove will receive his second-consecutive start this week, and freshman Tory Harrison will be the backup on the depth chart.
Redshirt senior Travis Cooley also will be out for the game on Saturday due to a knee injury he sustained in the Homecoming contest against Houston. Wesley Housley will move up on the depth chart.
Other injuries include senior Caleb Hendrix (ankle) and redshirt junior LeVance Richmond (ankle), who are both questionable for this weekend's game.
Kickoff for Saturday's game is set for 6:30 p.m.
