HATTIESBURG, Miss. - The Southern Miss football team practiced for just over two hours, today, at the Joe P. Park Practice Facility, continuing preparations for its match-up with Houston on Saturday.
"We had a good day today," Head Coach Jeff Bower said.
Bower gave mention to quarterback Jeremy Young's toe condition by saying that he's a little better and making progress but is not back to 100 percent.
Conrad Chanove didn't practice in full gear today, which Bower claims is just a precaution.
"He's fine," added Bower. "We've got a couple of minor injuries, but he's fine. He'll be ready."
Also not in full gear was starting center Robby D'Angelo.
"It's precautionary with him as well," Bower stated. "We're just trying to keep people from landing on his bad ankle."
Defensive lineman Sean Merrill practiced in full gear and is expected to play in Saturday's game after missing the team's last two competitions against UCF and Tulsa. Bower also mentioned that while quarterback Stephen Reaves was running around in practice today, he is still very limited and is doubtful for the upcoming game.
When asked about the condition of tight end Shawn Nelson, Bower said that they will know his full status on Thursday, but he is sure he will be ready to go.
Kickoff for Saturday's game is set for 6 p.m.
