With No Game, Football Team Still Practices
HATTIESBURG, Miss.? The Southern Miss football team hit the practice field today with a two-hour session at the Joe P. Park practice facility, even though the team?s Saturday game against Houston has been postponed.
Due to Hurricane Rita, Southern Miss will not play
Head Coach Jeff Bower said the team had a good practice, despite the inconvenience of having the game postponed.
?They did a good job,? Bower said. ?It?s unfortunate we won?t be playing. We were focused and I thought we had a good practice today.?
Southern Miss has been plagued by hurricanes this season. The Golden Eagles were to open the season Sept. 4 against Tulane, but Hurricane Katrina forced that game to be moved to Nov. 26.
The team will only condition on Friday, before taking the weekend off.
Southern Miss (1-1) returns to action on Oct. 1, facing
