Newcomers Conclude Practice, Full Team To Hit Field Tuesday
HATTIESBURG, Miss.? The Southern Miss football coaching staff got its final opportunity to work with the newcomers today, in the final practice before the full team hits the practice field on Tuesday.
Head Coach Jeff Bower said practice went well again today.
?We?ve thrown a lot at them,? Bower said. ?Their heads are swimming a little bit, but that?s normal. We?re trying to bring them along as fast as we can. The next practice, they?ll be with the varsity.?
Bower said that he was impressed with the work ethic of the newcomers.
?They are working hard,? Bower said. ?We?re teaching them how to practice, with all the fundamentals, routines and drills. We did a lot more today than we did yesterday.?
The team will not practice Monday, as the newcomers have academic orientation, while the varsity arrives on campus. On Tuesday, the full team will hit the practice field at 9 a.m.
Southern Miss finished 7-5 in 2004, including a 5-3 mark in Conference
The team opens its season Sunday, Sept. 4, in a 3 p.m., nationally televised ESPN2 contest, in the annual ?
