August 28, 2005: Week Two, Fourth Diary Entry ? On the end of two-a-days, Hurricane Katrina and goals and predictions for their brother:
Trevis ? We?re glad that two-a-days are done and now we?re getting ready for Tulane.
Kevis ? I?m definitely happy that two-a-days are over. We?re trying to get everything in for Tulane, despite the hurricane weather we?re about to face.
Trevis ? The hurricane has affected the team a little bit. We came out tonight to practice, despite some rain, because we won?t be able to practice tomorrow. We wanted to come out and get a head start on preparation for Tulane before it hits.
Kevis ? The upcoming weather has affected our practice schedule. We won?t be able to get in as much practice as we would have liked, but we needed to come out tonight and have this practice to loosen up after a few days off.
Trevis ? Looking back now that preseason camp is over, the defensive player that really stood out during camp was (defensive back) Lance Moore. He?s been practicing with both the first and second teams and has been competitive.
Kevis ? I would say the same thing. Lance is a tough guy, who is getting a lot of experience playing with the first and second teams.
Trevis ? Offensively, the player that stood out the most during camp was (wide receiver) Joe Singleton. He?s an incoming freshman from
Kevis ? I would have to say Joe Singleton as well. He?s made a lot of nice plays and had some good catches. I could see him playing this year as a freshman. I could see him having a good career..
Trevis ? Now that I?m finished with my last camp at Southern Miss, I would rate my performance as pretty good, but it could have been better. I had to sit out a couple of days due to a minor neck injury, but overall I feel like I did well.
Kevis ? Trevis had a good camp. The younger players look up to him as the veteran because he knows all the checks, assignments and plays. Like he said, he had a minor injury and had to sit out a couple of days, but he?s recovered from that. As far as predictions for my brother, we always take one game at a time, talking to each other about what our goals are for each game. I hope that he gets more interceptions this year. He missed a couple last year that he should have had.
Trevis ? I thought Kevis played hard through camp and at the scrimmages. He?s has good speed at middle linebacker. I don?t think he?s an ordinary middle linebacker, because he runs like a safety. My individual goal for Kevis is for him to be the leading tackler on the team, with me being the second leading tackler. I predict that he?ll have about 115 tackles on the year, but he says that he?ll get more than that. He?s going to be an outstanding player this year.
Kevis ? My camp went well. Every practice, I went out trying to be a leader on the field and set an example for the younger players.
Trevis ? The number one team goal is to win the Conference USA Championship. We?re going to take this season one game at a time, finish each one and never give up during the game..
Kevis ? We?re going out every game to win with a refuse to lose attitude. All 11 players on the field play as brothers. That?s our motto on defense. You should be able to look over at the next guy and know that he?s going to get the job done. We?re not hoping to win, but instead refusing to lose. We want those championship rings bad and want the championship game to be in
