Young Signs With New York Giants
Marvin Young signed a free agent contract with the New York Giants today. |
Young becomes the fourth Golden Eagle to sign a free agent contract, joining Antoine Cash (Atlanta Falcons), Corey Yates (Washington Redskins) and Chris White (Green Bay Packers). In addition, Michael Boley (fifth round, Atlanta Falcons, 160th overall) and Jeremy Parquet (seventh round, Kansas City Chiefs, 238th overall) were selected in the NFL Draft.
The
Young ended his collegiate career ranking third on the school?s career list with 17 receiving touchdowns, 115 receptions and 1,717 receiving yards. He also had two 100-yard receiving games in his career.
He enjoyed his best season as a junior in 2003, as he helped the Golden Eagles attain a 9-4 record with a berth in the Liberty Bowl, and an undefeated 8-0 record in Conference
To go along with his stellar junior campaign, He earned honorable mention All-American honors by collegefootballnews.com, while being tabbed First-Team All-Conference USA, also earning Conference USA Player of the Week honors two times.
Young was a preseason All-American by collegefootballnews.com, nationalchamps.net and Street & Smith?s in 2004, along with preseason All-Conference USA honors.
He began his senior campaign on a strong note, catching three touchdowns in the team?s first three games, recording the team?s second and third longest receiving touchdowns of the season. Young was slowed by a serious turf toe injury for the remainder of the season, which hindered his production.
