Ashley Davis hit her seventh home run of the season today, a three-run shot that provided the only runs of the game. |
With the win, Southern Miss improves to 20-28, 6-12 in Conference
The game was a pitcher?s duel between Lady Eagle Danielle Wymer and Lady Cougar Barbie Love.
Southern Miss scored the only runs of the game in the bottom of the first inning. Diane Hammes was hit by a pitch to start the inning, and advanced to second on a sacrifice bunt by Sue Logan, and reached third on a passed ball. After Jessica Huerta fouled out and Jennifer Fox walked, Ashley Davis cleared the bases with her with her seventh home run of the season, to make the score 3-0.
Wymer held
Southern Miss? final hit also came in the fifth, as Allison Bullard reached on a bunt single.
Wymer (9-14) got the win, as she recorded her fifth shutout of the season, walking two and striking out five. Love (4-7) took the loss, allowing three runs, while walking three and striking out one.
