Softball Falls To DePaul In Series Finale
CHICAGO,
With the loss, Southern Miss falls to 19-25 overall, 5-10 in Conference
The game was scoreless unitl the fourth. Southern Miss had an opportunity to get on the scoreboard in the third, as Ashley Brenan singled right field and advanced to third on a double by Jessica Huerta off the centerfield wall. But the Lady Eagles could not get the runs across.
The Lady Eagles took a 1-0 lead in the fourth. After Ashley Davis grounded out, Charity Butler singled and advanced to second on a error by DePaul centerfielder Linda Secka. Melissa Prouty then reached on a fielding error by third baseman Marcy Wilus, allowing
DePaul scored three runs in the bottom of the inning. Ashley Parker singled to start the inning and advanced to second on a sacrifice bunt by Saskia Roberson. Sara Polensky walked and Secka followed with an RBI double that scored Parker. Jenny Doezie then followed with a two RBI triple, to make the score 3-1.
The Lady Blue Demons added four runs in the sixth, as Doezie stole home, Wilus hit an RBI single and Bandauski connected on a two-run home run, that put the game out of reach.
Tracie Adix (13-3) got the win for DePaul, pitching six innings, allowing seven hits and one run, while striking out one.
Krystal Crooks (10-9) took the loss for Southern Miss, scattering six hits and seven runs, while walking three.
Southern Miss returns to action Wednesday, April 13, single-game contest at Southeastern Louisiana, before returning home to host
