Football Continues Spring Drills
Head Football Coach Jeff Bower said the team had another good day on the field.
?We had another good day today,? Bower said. ?The energy was good again. There was a lot of enthusiasm. I hope it carries over when we put the pads on tomorrow.?
Bower said several players have been hampered by injuries, including Antwon Courington (knee), Jerome Lyons (knee), Howard Overby (fractured toe) and Gerald McRath (ankle).
?I?m a little worried,? Bower said. ?We haven?t been in full pads yet.?
On Friday, the team will practice in pads for the first time, with a 10 a.m., workout. The Golden Eagles will also hit the practice field on Saturday, before returning with the fifth practice of the spring on Tuesday, Mar. 29.
Of the 15 spring practice days, the NCAA mandates three with no equipment, other than helmets. Twelve of the 15 days may involve contact, but only eight can involve tackling and no more than three can be full contact scrimmaging.
