Softball Wins Two At Saint Louis
Ashley Davis hit three home runs today, including two in game two, which tied a school record for most home runs in a game. |
Danielle Wymer pitched a three hit shutout in game one against Saint Louis, while pitching three innings of relief in game two to earn her first career save. |

With the wins, Southern Miss improves to 16-15 overall, 4-1 in Conference
After a scoreless three innings of play in game one, Southern Miss struck for four runs in the fourth. Sue Logan led off the inning with a double to center field and advanced to third on a single by Ashley Brenan. Jessica Huerta followed with a two-RBI single, as the Lady Eagles took a 2-0 lead. Huerta stole home and Jennifer Fox hit a solo home run, her third of the season, to complete the scoring in the inning.
That would be plenty of run support for Danielle Wymer, who pitched a three-hit shutout, her third of the seventh, also pitching her fifth complete game of the year.

In the second game, Southern Miss took a 2-0 lead in the first. Huerta led of the inning with a single and stole second and third base and scored on a sacrifice fly from Fox.

The Lady Billikens scored two runs in the bottom of the seventh, on a RBI double by Kara Sell and RBI single from Katie Hoffarth.
Krystal Crooks (9-3) got the win for Southern Miss, pitching four innings, allowing four hits, two runs, while walking two and striking out one. Wymer pitched three innings of relief to get her first career save, scattering five hits and two runs, while walking one and striking out three.
