Softball Wins Big Over Southeastern Louisiana
Melissa Prouty led Southern Miss with three hits against Southeastern Louisiana, a career-high single-game performance. |
Krystal Crooks earned her seventh win as a Lady Eagle against Southeastern Louisiana, and has now pitched six consecutive complete games in as many starts. |
With the win, Southern Miss improves to 10-7 overall, with a 4-1 mark at home.
The Lady Lions took a 3-0 lead in the first inning, on a RBI double from Diane Darnley and a two-run home run from Rebecca De La Garza.

Allison Bullard made the score 3-2 on a two-RBI single that scored Sue Logan and Melissa Prouty, on base with a walk and single respectively. An RBI single RBI single from Jessica Huerta scored Charity Butler, who was on base with a walk, tying the game at 3-3. Bullard scored on a fielding error by Amy Ford and Huerta scored with the bases loaded on a walk by Jennifer Fox, giving Southern Miss a 5-3 advantage. Ashley Brenan, on base with a walk, scored on an illegal pitch by Rachel Ray. Prouty connected on a two-RBI double that netted Southern Miss? final two runs of the inning, as Fox and Ashley Davis both scored, making the score 8-3.

Krystal Crooks (7-1), pitched her sixth consecutive complete game in as many starts, scattering four hits and three runs, while walking five and striking out three.
Jessica Sander took the loss for the Lady Lions, pitching one inning, allowing five hits and five runs, four earned and walked two.
Prouty led the team with three hits, a career-high. Prouty and Bullard each had two RBIs, while Davis and Huerta both had two hits.
