Basketball Set For Rematch With Green Wave
HATTIESBURG, Miss. -- Southern Miss stays on the road for the second-straight game, traveling to New Orleans, La., to take on Tulane.
Tip-off for the game is set for 6:30 p.m., and will be televised regionally by Cox Sports Television in Louisiana. Check your local listings for channel information. The game also will be broadcast over the Southern Miss/ISP Sports Network. "The Voice of the Golden Eagles" John Cox and analyst Lance Pittman will call the action. Air time begins at 6 p.m., CT, with the Golden Eagle Courtside Show.
Southern Miss, which fell to Marquette 81-72 on Saturday, enters the game with a 10-11 overall record and is 1-8 in Conference USA play, while Tulane comes in at 8-12 overall and 2-7 in league play.
Rashaad Carruth continues to lead Southern Miss in scoring with 12.4 points per game, while Michael Ford and Jarekus Singleton both follow with 9.9 and 9.0 points, respectively. Mildon Ambres leads the team with 4.9 rebounds a game, while Ford has a team best 62 assists.
Tulane, under the direction of Head Coach Shawn Finney, also comes in off a loss, falling in Saturday's 86-66 decision at USF. Quincy Davis continues to lead the team in scoring with 13.3 points per game, while Taylor Rochestie is avareging 10.9 points per game. Marcus Kinzer is averaging third with 10.8 points a night. Davis also leads the team in rebounds with 5.9 per game, while Kinzer has a team-best 88 assists.
The game marks the 60th overall in the series, with Tulane holding a 35-24 advantage. The two teams have already met earlier this season (1/22), with Southern Miss taking a 61-60 victory in Hattiesburg.
Following the Tulane contest, Southern Miss returns to Reed Green Coliseum to face Houston, Feb. 12.
