Softball Defeats Mississppi Valley State, 5-1
Krystal Crooks pitched a one-hit shutout against Mississippi Valley State today. She also pitched her fifth consecutive complete game in as many starts. |
With the win, Southern Miss improves to 9-7 on the season while
Crooks (6-1) limited the Lady Devils to only one hit, a single from Cristal Holmes, as she pitched her fifth consecutive complete game, in as many starts. She walked one and struck out four, in her second career shutout.
Southern Miss took a 1-0 lead in the first inning, as Ashley Brenan?s double scored Diane Hammes.
The Lady Eagles scored two runs in the fourth and fifth innings respectively.
In the fourth, Charity Butler?s two-RBI double scored Sue Logan and Melissa Prouty. Brenan had a RBI single in the fifth that scored Jessica Huerta, while Ashley Davis had a RBI groundout that scored Hammes.
