Freshman Krystal Crooks pitched 17 innings in the tournament and picked up the first two wins of her career. She pitched five innings against Tennessee Martin, limiting the Lady Skyhawks to only to hits, while pitching a career-high 6.2 innings against
In the team?s win against Tennessee-Martin, freshmen Jennifer Fox and Allison Bullard each hit their first career home runs. Fox hit a three-run blast in the fourth inning, while Bullard added a solo shot in the fifth.
Southern Miss and Louisiana-Monroe will meet for the 30th and 31st time on Wednesday, with the Lady Indians holding a 19-10 series advantage. Southern Miss has won three of the past four meetings and six of eight since the softball program was reinstated in 1999.
The Lady Eagles are currently hitting .333 as a team, with 43 runs, 49 hits, 13 doubles, 19 walks, 73 total bases and 37 RBIs. Jessica Huerta leads the team with a .625 batting average, 10 hits, nine RBIs, one triple and 15 total bases. She is also tied for the lead with three doubles and six runs.
Diane Hammes ranks second on the team with a .444 batting average and 14 total bases. Hammes is tied for the team lead in home runs and ranks first on the squad with five stolen bases. She is also tied for second with three doubles and six runs.
Crooks leads the pitching staff with a 2-0 record in 20 innings of work, and a staff best 4.50 ERA. She has appeared in all six games and has a team-high 10 strikeouts. Danielle Wymer has a 1-2 record and has nine strikeouts in nine innings of work. The Lady Eagle pitching staff has an ERA of 6.17 on the season.
