Softball Falls To Illinois State, 6-4

OXFORD, Miss.? Southern Miss? late comeback bid against Illinois State came up short Sunday, as it dropped a 6-4 decision to the Lady Redbirds.

Southern Miss loaded the bases in the bottom of the seventh with no outs.  Ashley Davis scored on a wild pitch, followed by a two-RBI single from Melissa Prouty, but she thrown out at third attempting to advance on the play. Charity Butler reached on an error, but Allison Bullard flied out and Ashley Brenan struck out to end the game.

Illinois State took a 3-0 lead in the top of the second and added to its lead with a run in the fourth and two in the sixth.
