Softball Falls To Southern Illinois

OXFORD, Miss.? Southern Miss bid for revenge against Southern Illinois did not go as planned, as the Lady Salukis defeated the Lady Eagles 14-0, in the second game of the Rebel/Easton Classic for both teams.

With the win, Southern Ilinois improves to 2-0 on the season, while Southern Miss falls to 3-1.

Southern Illinois? Amy Harre (1-0) held the Lady Eagles to one hit, a single by Ashley Davis.

The Lady Salukis jumped out to a five-run lead in the first inning, added three in the third and six in the fourth to take the victory.

Becky Wegmann and Krystal Stein each had three RBIs for Southern Illinois, while five players, Stein, Wegmann, Chelsea Petty, Kelly Creek and Ashley Hamby had two hits.

Danielle Wymer took the loss for Southern Miss, allowing nine hits and eight runs in three innings of work.

The Lady Eagles return to action on Sunday, Feb. 13, facing Illinois State at 9 a.m., and Ball State at 2 p.m.
