Softball Defeats Tennessee-Martin 6-1
With the win, Southern Miss improves to 3-0 on the season, while Tennessee-Martin drops to 0-1.
The Lady Eagles took a 1-0 lead in the third, on a RBI single from Jessica Huerta that scored Allison Bullard.
The Lady Skyhawks added a run in the bottom of the third on a solo home run by Jennifer Young.
But the Lady Eagles put the game out of reach in the top of the fourth, getting a three run home run to centerfield by Jennifer Fox, her first home run as a Golden Eagle, extending the lead to 4-1.
Allison Bullard added a solo home run in the top of the fifth, also her first career home run in a Southern Miss uniform.
Diane Hammes added an RBI single in the seventh to give Southern Miss its final margin of victory.
Krystal Crooks pitched five innings to get her first win as a Golden Eagle, limiting Tennessee-Martin to only two hits. Jessica Saunier pitched the first two innings for the Lady Eagles, allowing one run and four hits.
